The process of in vitro fertilization (IVF) takes its first baby step toward becoming completely automated. Last spring, engineers utilized a microscope, a mechanized needle, a tiny petri dish, a laptop, and a Sony PlayStation 5 controller to fertilize more than a dozen eggs.
