At the beginning of September, Sabrent announced its Rocket 4 Plus solid state drive, which is rated to deliver delightfully fast sequential read speeds of up to 7,000MB/s and write speeds up to 6,850MB/s. This is large part due to Phison’s next-gen PS5018-E18 controller. As enticing as that is, it appears the E18 can push even further.

Over on Geekbench (where else?), there exists a handful of benchmark runs showing the mighty processor nudging a little past 5GHz.
The market for PCIe 4.0 SSDs is expanding at a rapid pace, helped in part — in the consumer market — by the introduction of AMD’s Zen 2/X570 platform in 2019. With the launch of Tiger Lake and the upcoming Zen 3 and Rocket Lake desktop processor platforms, PCIe 4.0 SSDs are going to filter further into the mainstream market.
